Santa Cruz, Ain't it special?

Ah, just another day in our special little town called Santa Cruz. I happened to be watching TV this morning and saw that there was a commercial promoting Downtown Santa Cruz. The commercial, I thought, was very well put together for a local commercial. It also portrayed Downtown as a posh area with wine and dining and an "urban" flare of night life. They forgot to display some of the places below in the commercial...

Strange thing was the Catalyst was not mentioned anywhere in the commercial as it is the most popular music venue...

Rob, aka "Umbrella Man," was not mentioned anywhere in the commercial...

Nor was there mention of curious looking street performers who yell profanities at your female companions while walking down the street...

The culture of choice was missing...

Missing was also the nostalgic mood (even if it was Scooby Doo nostalgia)...

And, of course, the ever important political point of view of the locals was not there.

This picture, not a part of the culture, but I thought I would include it because, well, I just wanted to...
